Cogill Road Residence - Alterations

Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2023

Cogill Road Residence is a thoughtful renovation and extension designed to improve spatial flow, natural light, and indoor–outdoor connection. The design responds carefully to the existing home and site conditions, guided by a clear client vision.

The steep roof form informed the new additions, while the rear terrain was leveraged to introduce expansive glazing and framed bushland views. Skylights and high-level windows further enhance light and openness throughout the living spaces, resulting in a cohesive and well-resolved outcome.

Dunne Road Residence

Location: Glenview, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2022

Glenview Residence is a stunning acreage family home design located on the Sunshine Coast.

This large family home was designed to suit a young growing family with a large outdoor living area adjacent to the generous living area, separate bedroom area for the children and a designated area for guests.

This Hampton style residence showcases idyllic northern rural views from the main and outdoor living areas, with a terrific balance of traditional Hampton and modern materials featured throughout.

Northview Place Residence

Location: Woombye, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2024

Northview Place Residence is a contemporary family home located within the Horizons Peak Estate at Woombye, drawing on a relaxed Hamptons-inspired aesthetic.

The design responds to its elevated bushland setting with a welcoming streetscape and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

Open-plan living spaces extend seamlessly to outdoor areas, supporting everyday family life and entertaining.

A light, coastal material palette, detailed joinery, and considered glazing create a cohesive interior that balances comfort, functionality, and timeless appeal.

Buderim Residence

Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2019

Located at the end of a quiet street, this magnificent house reflects its premium location and takes full advantage of its picturesque Sunshine Coast views.

The elevated outlook is enhanced through clever design making it visible from majority of the rooms.

The three storey structure consists of four bedrooms, with only the master bedroom and ensuite located on the top floor, separate granny flat featuring a kitchenette and separate living quarters located on the lower level.

Featuring seamless indoor-outdoor living with spacious rooms that capture both the natural light and coastal breezes, this residence provides residents with a design that not only reflects the sought-after location, but all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.

The design also features a lift, wine cellar, and lap pool, with simple yet elegant materials utilised so as to not overpower the final design outcome.

Gem at Emerald

Location: Emerald, Central QLD
Year: 2023

Gem at Emerald is a spacious family home that embodies contemporary living, seamless indoor-outdoor integration. Designed to the client brief which was centred on family living.

The layout and orientation of the residence has created a harmonious and inviting environment for entertaining friends and family.

A highlight of this design is the thoughtful layout, featuring two wings branching out from a central core that serves as the heart of the home. The core encompasses the main living areas, including a spacious kitchen, dining room, and living room, along with a media room and rumpus room, all opening out to a large alfresco area.

Eumundi Residence

Location: Eumundi, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2012

This spacious home located in the Eumundi Hinterland features a contemporary design, focused on the breath-taking views overlooking the Sunshine Coast.

The entry to the home consists of soaring glass windows, a glass/steel enclosed lift, feature staircase, and void to the upper level.

All areas of the house incorporate operable glazing, allowing for maximum light and ventilation.

A motor court area was incorporated featuring a cobblestone circular driveway, a centre foundation feature, spot lighting to highlight the existing cut embankment, mural garage doors, a facade wall semi-concealing the house, and appropriate potted plants. The resultant design has produced a stunning European influenced space, which adds to the eclectic mix of design components throughout the house.

Sunshine Coast Residence

Location: Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2015

From the humble colonial brick start, this Sunshine Coast residence has experienced an astonishing transformation into a stately presence, with a grand design and commanding presence.

Expanded to include five bedrooms, including a grand 85sqm master suite, various living and entertaining spaces, a designated ‘pub feel’ games room, fully equipped gym, pool pavilion, tennis court cabana, and diverse outdoor entertaining and activity zones.

With oversized industrial windows and an arched porte cochere, this house achieves an established site presence.

A stacked stone facade feature wall with flawless workmanship and detailing proves a commanding presence to the landscaped surrounds.

The overall design is grand from the approach to the finer detailing, a truly unique residence on the Sunshine Coast.

Morningside Residence

Location: Morningside, QLD
Year: 2022

Our client came to use with the problem facing most growing families – “We love where we live, but we need more room”. This guided our design decisions throughout the process.

Modernising the living areas and adding internal access to the lower multipurpose room were all priorities as well as increasing the overall aesthetic and street presence of the home.

The solution was to add a master wing to the existing house footprint by building over the garage. The addition not only added a fourth
bedroom, it provided a space separate to the main house creating an exclusive parents retreat.

In keeping with the character of the neighbourhood, a gable roof and verandah feature in the front facade to achieve the street presence the client desired.

Opening up the kitchen to the living space created the modern-day open-plan living area for the whole family to enjoy. New large, glass
sliding doors that open out onto the existing deck, combined with the panoramic glass splash back window allows the room to be flooded
with natural light. The new light filled, internal entry and staircase now connect the multi-level.

Glenview Residence

Location: Glenview, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2022

Glenview residence is a stunning acreage family home design located on the Sunshine Coast. This large family home was designed to suit a young growing family.

Buderim Residence II

Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2020

Located in the quiet streets of Buderim, this residence speaks for itself. This split level home screams sophistication and high-end design, as every element has been thoughtfully appointed.

Upon entry, guests are met with 3m vaulted ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, large entertaining spaces, and a commercial sized kitchen, complete with butlers pantry.

Just off the open plan living and dining area, you will find an expansive north-east facing pool and terrace.

The upper level of the residence houses the master bedroom, complete with walk-in robe and large ensuite that showcases a large free standing bath.

The upper level also features three large bedrooms, an ensuite, dual vanity bathroom, and custom built-in wardrobes.

Mayfield Residence

Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2021

Mayfield Residence is located in the heart of Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. The design features open-plan living and includes features that are sure to turn heads.

BRD Group had the pleasure of assisting with the building design of this stunning abode that features a striking stone feature, creating an impressive street appeal.

This residence features a spectacular open-plan living area, engineered oak flooring, 3m ceilings, tiered media room and seamless indoor-outdoor alfresco terraces.

Warana Residence

Location: Warana, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2020

Located within walking distance to the popular Warana beach, this residential renovation project takes advantage of its prime coastal location and features coastal charm.

The four bedroom house features a galley style
kitchen with butlers pantry and modern finishes throughout, to overall present a simple yet striking facade.

Large stacking glass doors allow for a seamless
transition between the living and outdoor terrace / pool area, making the most of the Sunshine Coast environment and lifestyle.

Mooloolaba Residence

Location: Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2019

Located in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast, this two-storey waterfront home was designed and built as a family home with future adaptability kept front of mind.

This residence features five bedrooms, all with individual ensuites, a master bedroom on each level, open plan living and dining spaces, self-contained kitchenette complete with living and entertainment spaces.

Mooloolaba residence also encompasses an outdoor living and entertaining space, complete with swimming pool, spa and pizza oven.

Highworth Residence

Location: Highworth, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2021

Situated on a 1000sqm allotment with rural views, this charming cottage was a first home for a newly married couple with strict budget constraints in place.

Working within the budget, a simple design was utilised which took advantage of
the views and prevailing breezes to keep the home cool, bright and airy.

The sloping block was used to its best advantage with a double garage and large laundry situated under the home, and an internal staircase to link the garage with the main residence.

The height and design of this home allows for the option to add extra rooms in the future.

Birtinya Residence

Location: Birtinya, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2021

Birtinya Residence is a north facing small lot home located on the canal at Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast with a focus on lifestyle and luxury to enhance the surrounds.

This design features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, large double garage, pool, and multiple living zones across two levels – all designed to take full advantage of the magnificent water views.

This residence also features full-length stacking doors and extended three metre ceilings that enhance the homes natural airflow.

Noosa Heads Residence

Location: Noosa Heads, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2003

Noosa Heads Residence is a stunning abode, straight from our early archives. Perched upon the crest of Noosa Hill, this residence encompasses idyllic 270-degree views.

The views span across Mount Coolum, Noosa River and Mount Tinbeerwah and required over 1,300 tonnes of concrete during construction.

The home features off-form concrete and polished concrete flooring throughout, an art gallery style foyer with lift access to the top floor where you will find an expansive open-plan kitchen, indoor/ outdoor dining and living spaces, swimming pool, home office and master suite.

The lower level consists of three bedrooms, secondary living area, an outdoor entertaining deck with expansive views of Noosa River and the hinterland, and indoor gym.

Alex Headland Residence

Location: Alex Headlands, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2004

This Alexandra Headland residence takes full advantage of its elevated position, capturing stunning coastal views from its thoughtfully designed living spaces.

Elevated living levels maximise natural light, cooling sea breezes, and the ever-changing beauty of the surrounding coastline.

Combining the luxury of functionality with the subtle beauty of carefully considered details, the home offers a timeless aesthetic that is both elegant and welcoming. Designed for modern family living, it balances comfort, practicality, and sophistication to create a classic family home that will be enjoyed for generations.

Brisbane Residence

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Year: 2014

This contemporary residence designed over four levels caters for a large family and features
generous entertaining and recreation areas that take advantage of their city view location.

The house is a series of stepped platform levels that nestle into the surrounding steep terrain and protrude towards the city. The transition between inside and outside is blurred by the extensive amount of glazing incorporated into the facade, offering views out in all directions and filling the house with natural daylight.

The resulting design represents a luxurious take on Queensland’s culture of outdoor living.

Woombye Residence

Location: Woombye, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2020

This functional residence features a split level design to combat the issues of the difficult site. The home features batten timber screening and focuses on delivering a feeling of space.

The timber batten screening spans from the stairs that lead down from the entry, master suite complete with a walk behind wardrobe and ensuite, gas fireplace and a bedroom that has been transformed into a sewing room with ample storage space.

This stunning design also features extensive workshop space in the garage for hobbies, a secret door that leads to a large butlers pantry
and breath-taking panoramic views to the west.

Pacific View Residence

Location: Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2019

Situated high on the eastern edge of a mountain, this grand home possesses magnificent views from the alfresco area adjacent to the kitchen and living areas.

External stairs from the roadside allows visitors to enter directly into the interior of the home, giving a robust earthy look.

The residence also features children’s bedrooms and play areas separate from the parents suite, and plenty of storage to accommodate the active family’s sporting equipment.

As a result of forward planning, this home will fulfil the client’s needs for many years to come.

Glasshouse Mtns Residence

Location: Glasshouse Mtns, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2016

This residence reflects the same angular lines of the Glasshouse Mountains. Natural materials of the ‘tin and timber’ principle have been used with dramatic effect to complement the location.

A continuous roof plan with plywood soffits link the internal and external living zones, providing a dramatic ‘hat’ to the house with some internal walls acting only as partitions to further enhance the volume effect internally.

Extensive use of windows and louvres provide year round natural ventilation and can be adjusted to suit the climate, while also providing abundant natural light.

Careful orientation and layout has provided strategic views of the mountains from most
internal rooms, and also capitalises on seasonal
aspects with the exterior deck areas.

Kawana Island Residence

Location: Kawana, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2005

This unique Kawana Island residence showcases a striking architectural design, incorporating sweeping curves and flowing forms in place of traditional straight walls.

The result is a home with distinctive character, where each space transitions seamlessly into the next, creating a sense of movement and harmony throughout.

The home features an expansive open-plan layout that balances spaciousness with functionality, providing both casual and formal living areas. Thoughtfully designed to be interconnected, these spaces encourage effortless indoor-outdoor living while maintaining their own individual purpose. Large openings and carefully positioned sightlines ensure each area enjoys commanding views of the pool, landscaped surrounds, and the river beyond, creating a strong connection to the waterfront setting.

Alex Headlands Residence II

Location: Alex Headland, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2009

This residence incorporates a very contemporary, minimalist design over three levels on a small, narrow allotment which presented unique design challenges to overcome.

The internals include a large basement car park, an open style living area and various bedroom zones.

The main living area and master bedroom wrap around an elevated swimming pool, providing a private outdoor entertaining terrace.
