The Post Office

Location: Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2015

The Post Office Bar & Restaurant adopts a simple layout emphasised with a vintage/industrial look, offering locals a cool place to eat and listen to live music. The transformation of the once derelict commercial office space has brought a new energy to the bones of the building. The use of authentic materials and finishes, many sourced locally, brings a considered design response with an appropriately matched level of comfort for patrons of the establishment.

Oak & Vine

Location: Melbourne CBD, VIC
Year: 2015

Oak & Vine is an innovative concept to inner city bar/restaurant design.

The tenancy has been transformed from a pokey bar into a vibrant ‘place to be’ with innovative use of timber, vibrant colours and design elements used to create a sensational socialising experience.

Existing street glazing within the space consisted of large sliding panels which were the inspiration behind creating a ‘wintergarden’ deck dining experience. Extensive use of timber, greenery and variable windows allows for a casual, flexible patron area with the space also providing the transition between the street pedestrians and the internal bar.

Internally, the fit-out provides a signature bar that incorporates stone, timber, and metal which is emphasised through the use of specialty lighting. Operable bi-fold doors allow the merge of the dining and guest waiting areas, thus creating separate spaces with visual connections.

Sunshine Coast Residence

Location: Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2015

From the humble colonial brick start, this Sunshine Coast residence has experienced an astonishing transformation into a stately presence, ideal for large family living.

Expanded to include five bedrooms, including a grand 85sqm master suite, various living and entertaining spaces, a designated ‘pub feel’ games room, fully equipped gym, pool pavilion, tennis court cabana, and diverse outdoor entertaining and activity zones.

With oversized industrial windows and an arched porte cochere, this house achieves an established site presence.

A stacked stone facade feature wall with flawless workmanship and detailing proves a commanding presence to the landscaped surrounds.

The overall design is grand from the approach to the finer detailing, a truly unique residence on the Sunshine Coast.

The Hive

Location: Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2017

The Hive Business Centre consists of two tenancies totalling approximately 564sqm, with a combination of serviced offices, meeting rooms, dedicated desks, pods and flexi desks.

Through incorporating facilities such as large boardrooms / conference rooms, kitchen facilities and break-out zones, The Hive has fast become a sought after location for start-up businesses to operate from.

The selection of modern office furniture and workstations makes for a desired place to work as well as being a great location for small business.

Brisbane Residence

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Year: 2014

This contemporary residence designed over four levels caters for a large family and features
generous entertaining and recreation areas that take advantage of their city view location.

The house is a series of stepped platform levels
that nestle into the surrounding steep terrain and protrude towards the city. The transition between inside and outside is blurred by the extensive amount of glazing incorporated into the facade, offering views out in all directions and filling the house with natural daylight.

The resulting design represents a luxurious take on Queensland’s culture of outdoor living.

Coles Liquor

Location: Australia Wide

We’re proud to be a preferred design consultant for Coles Liquor nationally for the transformation of “First Choice” to First Choice Liquor Market, Liquorland and Vintage Cellars projects.

FIRST CHOICE LIQUOR MARKET
Working closely with the Coles Liquor Planning Team, BRD Group have worked on more than 80 stores Australia Wide, developing full existing conditions documentation, followed by town planning documentation, illustrating the branding change.

This change has consisted of extensive work within the research and development stages, through to the overall building branding and signage elements, to ensure these are in line with the corporate identity.

LIQUORLAND & VINTAGE CELLARS
The team have been working hand in hand with the Coles Liquor Planning Team on over 160 stores across Australia, ranging from store alterations and refreshes, to brand new stores.

Lexus Southport

Location: Southport, Gold Coast, QLD
Year: 2013

The second Lexus showroom for BRD Group, the Southport showroom, required the redevelopment of an existing building on a restricted corner site.

Significant changes to the existing structure were needed to upgrade from the current three car showroom and four bay workshop.

The redevelopment involved a neighbouring block of land to allow for expansion.

Charlotte's Bar & Bistro

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Year: 2014

This bistro design showcases a functional layout of dining areas, and service areas to the rear and opposite site of the tenancy.

The initial brief for Charlotte’s Bar & Bistro was to cater for the breakfast needs of hotel guests from the above building and to service the local office workers during the lunch period with a bar that would capture the social ‘after work’ drinking patronage.

The bar consists of bright colours and features to attract pedestrian attention, with a ‘theatre style’ kitchen allowing patrons to view the cooking activities.

The dining area showcases several feature décor items varying from built-in wine cabinets, artwork panels, lighting fans, and feature cabinetry.

The warm atmosphere is emphasised through
interior colour selections which compensate for the predominantly cold and shady orientation of the restaurant.

K1 Birtinya

Location: Birtinya, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2008

K1 is located in the growing beachside suburb of Birtinya and showcases a contemporary, signature office building which effortlessly reflects the Sunshine Coast vernacular style.

The foyer showcases and array of design elements including a lift with feature cladding, custom designed staircase and a steel sculpture with elements found elsewhere in the building.

Coolum Surf Club

Location: Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2015/2021

The Coolum Surf Club undertook a complete
refurbishment including entirely revamped social facilities, which allowed for almost double the patronage.

Also included was the redevelopment of their ‘Nipper’ amenities, gear storage, reception/admin and member training rooms.

The upper level of the building required the most change, with new amenities, function rooms, main bar, gaming room, TAB, kitchen and storage, various dining areas and extensions to the external dining decks.

NEW MEMBERS AREA
The design outcome for the new members area resulted in a vibrant day use area for active club members, complete with an idyllic outlook to Coolum Beach.

This area of the club feeds off the internal multipurpose rooms, kitchen/cafe, and amenities, ultimately tying in with the rest of the club design.

Overall this area provides active members with their own designated space to enjoy the camaraderie that the club encourage.

Lexus Maroochydore

Location: Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2010

Lexus Maroochydore was the first Lexus showroom design for BRD Group with the outcome producing a high quality, signature building.

This design has received positive comments from the Local Authority, Lexus Australia,
and Lexus International, and has now set the benchmark for future Lexus showrooms in
Australia.

The resultant building uses a combination of materials, colours, and mass to produce an articulated, eye catching and stylish building.

Alex Headland Townhouse

Location: Alex Headland, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2015

Situated on a picturesque beachside block, this townhouse development is unconventional in both form and planning, offering a fresh and distinctive approach to coastal living.

Its innovative design responds thoughtfully to the unique characteristics of the site, maximising natural light, ocean breezes, and connections to the surrounding environment.

Carefully considered in both layout and appearance, the development moves beyond traditional townhouse design to create a collection of residences that feel spacious, private, and contemporary. The result is a striking architectural statement that balances functionality, lifestyle, and a strong sense of place, perfectly suited to its sought-after coastal setting.

Alex Headland Residence II

Location: Alex Headland, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2009

This residence located in beachside suburb of Alexandra Headlands, incorporates a very contemporary, minimalist design over three levels on a small, narrow allotment.

The internals include a large basement carpark, an open style living area, and various bedroom zones.

The main living area and master bedroom wrap around an elevated swimming pool, providing a private outdoor entertaining terrace.

Maroochy Surf Club

Location: Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2000/2012

Maroochy Surf Lifesaving Club is an iconic building located on Maroochydore beach. BRD Group have had the pleasure of working with the club since 2000.

BRD Group have been involved with both master planning and individual refurbishment projects.

The refurbishment works included demolition of 60% of the original building which now comprises of three levels that incorporate both member and public patron facilities.

Buderim Views Aged Care

Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2009

Buderim Views is a 120 room aged care facility with four distinct yet integrated areas ranging from low and high care, to dementia and added services care.

The facility includes a visitor bedroom, associated living and dining areas, television and library areas, administration requirements, commercial kitchen and associated services, commercial laundry, required on-site storage and car parking requirements.

The resultant design consists of the building set over three levels to compensate for the large site level difference.

The lowest level relates to the access for the existing village and consists of both staff and
visitor parking, laundry, staff room, amenities, kitchen and service areas.

The mid level consists of 60 resident bedrooms, visitor bedroom, admin areas, visiting specialist areas, living/dining areas, and direct access to external landscaped courtyard areas.

The upper level features the remainder of the resident bedrooms and their associated areas as well as direct access to large balconies.

Mary River Motor Inn

Location: Gympie, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2011

The Mary River Motor Inn in fast-growing township of Gympie consists of six buildings that incorporate 50 motel units, restaurant and function facilities.

Designed as part of the Motor Inn development, the Mary River Restaurant is a premier venue catering for large functions and conferences.

The Metropole Hotel

Location: Townsville, North QLD
Year: 2008

Built in 1886, The Metropole Hotel in Townsville has been carefully rebuilt behind the refurbished heritage facade, maintaining the original charm and character.

Externally, the new building consists of a new balcony, roof, balustrading, lower roof, and
streetscape structures that pay homage to the original design.

Internally, the ground floor includes a lounge/ tapas zone, dining room, kitchen/servery, lounge, bar, gaming room, amenities, and a sports bar.

The first floor consists of two function rooms, a large bar, smaller kitchen, amenities and
administration rooms.

Lexus Springwood

Location: Springwood, Gold Coast, QLD
Year: 2014

The Lexus showroom at Springwood occupies a prime site alongside the busy Pacific Highway and commands attention with a sweeping cantilevered roof form.

The provide a balanced scale to the large site, the project was designed over two levels. The primary structure of the building is steel frame with coated concrete tilt-up panels.

A predominant use of white gloss finishes enabled maximum daylight levels, reduced heat absorption and reduced the need for artificial lighting.

Alex Headland Residence

Location: Alexandra Heads, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2004

This beachside Alexandra Headland residence takes full advantage of the stunning coastal views thanks to its elevated living levels and clever design.

The luxury of functionality and the subtle beauty of detail creates a classic family home.

Chancellors Tavern

Location: Sippy Downs, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2009

Chancellors at Sippy Downs is a contemporary tavern design with a successful mix of parapet walls, flat roofs and significant skillion roofs, which overall create both internal and external features.

The combination of heavy and lightweight materials resulted in a building with flexible spaces, high ceilings, extensive natural lighting and a modern, enduring fit-out.

Il Secondo

Location: Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, QLD
Year: 2008

Il Secondo was a small, Italian themed restaurant and bar situated under a residential and office complex in the entertainment precinct area of the CBD of Maroochydore.

The fit-out included several internal feature items and an external covered terrace area, mimicking a traditional Italian courtyard.

The Grand Hotel

Location: Gladstone, Central QLD
Year: 2007

The restoration of The Grand Hotel in Gladstone consisted of refurbishment of the hotel kitchen, bar and dining areas, gaming rooms, and the bottle shop.

The addition of an outdoor dining area was also added, with streetscaping and overall refurbishment of the facade also part of the renovation.
