Matthew Donnelly is a passionate Graduate Designer who has quickly established himself as a valued member of the BRD team. With over a year at the company, he brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong commitment to both technical and creative growth.

Raised in Manly, Queensland, Matthew grew up with his parents, brother, and two dogs. His early connection to the local area continues to influence his work, particularly when contributing to projects close to home.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Architectural Design from Queensland University of Technology, where he developed the foundational skills that now support his work across a variety of project types.

Matthew describes working at BRD as “like working with your friends,” highlighting the strong team culture and shared passion for design. He enjoys the balance of collaboration and independence, and values the positive environment that makes coming to work each day something to look forward to.

Matthew is motivated by the tangible nature of building design, the ability to contribute to real-world projects that he can visit and experience firsthand. One of his proudest achievements so far has been his involvement in the LL standards space, where the work is both unique and highly impactful.

Outside the office, Matthew enjoys spending time with friends playing board and card games. He also has a strong interest in travel and architecture, with a goal of exploring different cultures and design styles around the world. Matthew also hopes to visit Canada in the future and has a bucket list goal of travelling the world to experience diverse architectural styles and cultures firsthand.
